**Congratulations to the Faculty of the ITM Program for Receiving Funding for the Integrated Academic Service Project to Create Community Innovations for Sustainable Development for the Fiscal Year 2024**
The Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management would like to congratulate the faculty members of the ITM International Tourism and Service Management program (English program) for receiving funding for the integrated academic service project aimed at creating community innovations for sustainable development for the fiscal year 2024 at Mahasarakham University. The project is titled "Developing Tourism Activities through Community Participation Based on Nature-based Solutions" and includes the development of potential and design of water tourism routes in Mahasarakham Province.
The project is led by Assoc. Prof. Chalermkiat Suriyawong and co-led by Asst. Prof. Kamolthip Laakha. The study areas include Tambon Talad and Tambon Keng in Mueang Mahasarakham District, Mahasarakham Province.
This academic service project involves collaboration with various departments at Mahasarakham University, including the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Planning, and Fine Arts, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Walailak Research Institute.
The objectives of this project are to study the potential of natural resources and the community's capability for development, as well as to design water routes and activities to promote the area as a water tourism destination along the Kha Kang creek, from Kaeng Leng Jan to Wat Pa Wang Nam Yen.
Furthermore, the sub-project aims to develop tourism activities suitable for the area, tell new stories about the Kud Daeng area, and strengthen community development capacity. This will enable the community to gain knowledge and understanding of being leaders in nature-based tourism activities while raising awareness and collaboration for the conservation of natural resources within the community.
